3.6.2022 | The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will organise a thisisFINLAND Foreign Correspondents’ Programme (FCP) from 5 to 11 June 2022. The programme will give 13 young foreign correspondents and media professionals an opportunity to learn about Finland and the Finnish society.

21.1.2022 | Core funding to international humanitarian organisations is a rapid and effective way to respond to sudden-onset natural disasters and protracted crises. Finland’s 27.5-million-euro funding will help UN agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC to operate in areas where people need help, and to plan their operations flexibly.

29.4.2021 | Minister for Nordic Cooperation Thomas Blomqvist will chair an extraordinary meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation on 29 April 2021.

2.11.2021 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment begins a process for the preparation of a Government report on security of supply. Security of supply and preparedness have become a topic of active public debate following the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic also created a need to build better plans for our security of supply extending across several government terms. The report will support this development work

19.5.2021 | The Prime Minister’s Office will continue the Behavioural Advisory project launched in October 2020, which experiments in practice with the application of behavioural data in managing the COVID-19 crisis. The aim of the follow-up project is to strengthen the capacity of the central government to apply behavioural data more extensively in different policy areas.

1.4.2021 | Slightly fewer new COVID-19 cases were reported in Finland between 22 and 28 March than in the first weeks of the month. The current restrictions and recommendations and the closure of businesses serving food or beverages seem to have slowed down the spread of the epidemic. It takes some time for the restrictive measures to take effect, and the number of new cases remains high. Therefore, it is possible that the epidemic could take a rapid turn for the worse.

4.3.2021 | Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will chair the meeting of the Nordic Foreign Ministers on Friday 5 March 2021.

7.12.2021 | The Prime Minister’s Office, the European Studies programme at Tampereen lyseon lukio high school and the Tampere Region EU Office will hold a panel discussion at Wivi Lönn hall in the Monitoimitalo 13 community centre on Saturday 11 December at 14.00. Prime Minister Sanna Marin will give the opening speech at the event.

14.12.2021 | Today, ministers responsible for civil preparedness or their deputies from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland met via videoconference in the framework of so-called Haga cooperation. Finland’s Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen chaired the meeting, which ended Finland’s 2021 chairmanship of the Haga cooperation.

7.10.2021 | Restrictions on entry will be lifted for residents of Kuwait in traffic arriving in Finland from Kuwait. The Government adopted a decision on the matter on 7 October and the decision will enter into force on 11 October. No other changes will be introduced to the restrictions. The existing restrictions on entry at external borders will be extended until 24 October. However, people may still enter Finland from all countries upon presenting an approved certificate of a full course of vaccination.
